Betting Preview: Rugby Championship – Week 1

And so it’s that time of the year again. Time to see if our June prediction of how bad the Aussies will be this year or weather the Bokke can take the All Blacks in at least a home test.

Yes, ladies and gents, Its Rugby Championship time. The spectacular lads at The Pundits asked me to do another betting review for a bit of Kersfees money.

I will be (read only allowed by the missus) allocating R1000 for the Championship and would like to turn it into max profit. So let’s see what happens.

I do my betting at WSB so I will only be using their odds, and odds do differ from agency to agency. Please keep that in mind.

That being said, LETS MAKE SOME MONEY!

Australia vs New Zealand

The last time Aus did anything against the All Blacks was in 2012, with a 12 all draw. Since then they’ve been manhandled like PS remote during a Fifa game.

I really can’t see this changing. The real question is how far the AB’s will win.

I like the NZ -16.5 for 9/10. It’s not too much and should it be a blow out, you’re still save.  I will be putting R200 on that. It pays R180 plus your stake.

I will also be putting R100 on the first half being the highest scoring half @ 1.1/1 with the Aussies going all-out in the first half and doing damage control in the second.  It pays R110 plus your stake.

If you’re going to take NZ with -16.5 you might as well put a sneaky R50 on New Zealand’s winning margin being 16-20 at 5/1. It pays R250 plus your stake.

That’s R540 winnings so far…

Springboks vs Argentina

Then the all-important one, AMABOKOBOKO!

The Bokke are overwhelming favorites. That doesn’t mean that there isn’t value in this game.

The Pumas did not have the best of starts to the international season this year, going down to the English twice which did not have all their stars which was away on B&I Lions duty.

With “running rugby” being the ‘it’ phrase these days I expect a close but high scoring game, also 2 Frenchies, an Aussie and New Zealander as TMO (sounds like one of those ‘walk into a bar’ jokes) in on the officiating this game and looking at the Jaguares love for receiving cards like they have a 14 man game plan, there should also be some value.

Let’s start off with the important stuff, winning.

I’m going R150 on the Bokke -14.5 @ 8/10, this pays out R120 plus your stake.

I will also be putting R100 on a yellow card @ 4/10. This pays out R40 and your stake, and lastly I will put R100 on the Bokke’s winning margin being between 16 and 20 @ 5/1. Its pays R500 plus your stake.

That’s R1200 winnings in total of R700 all back in your wallet if all goes well.

I won’t be doing an accumulator this round, but feel free to do so and let me know in the comment section on your thoughts and tips.
