Chelsea FC Celebrate Stellar Season of Football

486views

Contrary to popular belief, it’s been a stellar season of Football at Chelsea Football Club. The 2017/18 season will go down in history as one of their most successful and the added silverware in their trophy-laden cabinet will testify as such.

An unbeaten run spanning 17 matches has seen major opposition turn into mere spectators as the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal could only watch as Chelsea won 12 games, drawing 5 and scoring 41 goals in the process.

Having struggled against Wolfsburg, Chelsea were knocked out of Europe’s premier competition in the semi-final stage, not a bad showing for any club in the Champions League.

Not to be outdone, the team bounced back and won a domestic cup against Arsenal. A 3-0 victory at Wembley was good enough to secure the club’s second domestic double in as many years.

“To get a Double and to the semi-final of the Champions League is absolutely tremendous. We’ve got to try and build on that from here.

‘We wear the Chelsea badge. We’re expected to compete for trophies, domestically and Europe. We’re lucky to work with such a special group of players.” – Assistant Manager, Paul Green

Furthermore, the Blues also picked up a record-equalling 5th consecutive FA Cup triumph this season. Their cup success is almost unprecedented and together with a league final win over Manchester United, brought the lads’ trophy total to 4 during the 2017/18 campaign.

“It’s probably the best season ever for this Chelsea team. Last year we won everything we could and this season, with a new cup competition added to the programme, we’ve won four trophies. Nobody has ever done that before.” – Manager

All things considered, and despite the negativity being spewed in the media, Chelsea Football Club had a very successful 2017/18 campaign and definitely has plenty to look forward to in seasons to come.

A very well done to both the Ladies and Academy teams on the performances as mentioned above.

The senior men’s team will play Manchester United in the FA Cup Final at Wembley this weekend.
