The Pundits FC continued where they left off last week, as they secured another three points at Fives Futbol‘s last night. It was not all smooth sailing during the 4-3 win over Rogue Five, though – a missed penalty and an injury to their star player is what’s grabbing the headlines today.

This was not our best performance by a long shot, and we made things very difficult for ourselves out there this evening,” said club Chairman, @OdinKuun after the final whistle.

We came into this match as firm favourites, having beaten one of the best teams in the league in our previous match. We’ll take the win but I expected it to be by a bigger margin. Naturally, things got very difficult after @HoerBoer injured himself, we all know how influential he can be and the fact that @thatWallace missed a penalty did not make matters easier,” he continued.

After the injury to @HoerBoer, it became apparent that the team relies heavily on his influence during matches and it was his physical presence and height that was mostly missed.

When asked about the consequences of losing such an important player, @KeeganKruger had the following to say: “Look, some of the fans don’t always realize it, but @HoerBoer puts in a lot of effort behind the scenes at this club. When everyone else is resting, he’s out there, at a bar or a nightclub or even on his balcony, making sure he’s always hydrated and that we stay true to our mantra: that we might lose the game, but we’ll never lose the down-downs in the bar. It puts tremendous strain on his body, but he is always up for the task.

Captain, @thatWallace, echoed @KeeganKruger‘s sentiments and added: “To be quite honest, I have no idea how we are going to cope without his strength. Not only for his aerial ability, but also his uncanny willingness to simply bulldoze his way through people in defense and on attack.

Having seen a leaked medical report, we confirm that @HoerBoer was admitted to ER early this morning and the outlook looks positive that the injury will not be career-threatening. A source close to the club confirmed that both him and Brent Swart, who was injured during the previous game, was prescribed a bag of cement and ordered by the medical staff to “harden the f#ck up”.

Despite the injuries, the immediate future of the club looks bright. With two winnable matches left, we might see them finish in the top 2 of the division. A top 2 finish will afford them the opportunity to win their first silverware in the final. Furthermore, official statistics, provided by stadium management, confirmed that The Pundits FC once again managed to double their supporter base – this week, with the introduction of Sebastian, the support went up from 1 fan, to 2.
