Fantasy Premier League: Gameweek 13
Another international break has come and gone, and as a Chelsea fan, it was certainly nice to have a weekend without dropped points and the stress and banter that comes with that. Having said that, I did miss the Football and I’m just happy that, with all the problems in Paris, all the players have returned to their clubs unharmed.
There are of-course some players who came back with injuries, niggles and other problems which means they could be unavailable for this week’s action. They include:
- Eden Hazard
- Laurent Koscielny
- Anthony Martial
- Mousa Dembélé
- Michael Carrick
- Vincent Kompany
- Jamie Vardy
Gameweek 12 saw me get green arrows all round with a score of 68, so I am hoping to build on that form going into this week – With Vardy and Kompany doubtful to play, that might be easier said than done.
This week I’m pointing out two players from a handful of clubs who I think could be worth a punt.
I’ll start with the team that I love, in the hope that this week, they’ll finally come right. A home match against Norwich should theoretically be an easy 3-points, but this season has taught us differently.
Willian has been the pick of the Chelsea-bunch this season and he should be licking his fingers to run down the wings against Norwich, causing their back-four some trouble. His free-kicks have been spot on this season and one feels that if goals are to be scored, it would either come off his foot, or the final pass will be accredited to him.
Begovic has done well for the Blues, making some crucial saves along the way. Somehow I have a feeling he’s good for a clean sheet this weekend and once Chelsea’s tails are back up, there should be more to follow.
Seamus Coleman is good value at 5.9 and should fancy a clean sheet at home to Aston Villa who have only scored twice in their last 5 games.
Romelu Lukaku has again found his form that saw him doing so well in his first season at Everton – playing like he has been playing, you’d have to back him to slot at least one past the struggling Villa this weekend.
Newcastle frontman Ayoze Perez has slotted 3 in 6 games and has only been selected by 1.7% of managers – he could be a great differentiator if he gets on the scoreboard against Leicester.
Oliver Giroud should get a full 90 mins with Walcott still out injured. Against a West Brom team who have been very leaky at home, he should be able to find the back of the net at least once.
Mesut Özil has been much better this term that last and is racking up assists – if there’s one guy who is likely to find Giroud to finish, it’s him. Always an option to get on the scoreboard as well.
I’ve decided to wait before making any changes for now – towards the end of today we should have confirmation of injuries and I’m hoping for good news about Vardy, before I make a call to transfer.
