Gideon Drotschie Reacts After Debut Middleweight Victory

We could not believe our eyes when we saw the shape that  Gideon Drotschie was in ahead of his debut Middleweight bout at EFC72 – a long time The Pundits favourite, we cannot wait to see him become a two-weight champion in the Extreme Fighting Championship.

Former light-heavyweight king, Gideon Drotschie, says he will take on whoever the EFC deems fit in his bid to become a two-time champion.

Drotschie returned to prominence with a gritty, unanimous decision win over Englishman Jenaid Ebanks in his first outing at middleweight in Cape Town on Saturday.

The scrap earned Fight-of-the-Night honours and snapped a two-fight skid for the ‘Juggernaut’.

Well, there are a few guys that I wanna face,” Drotschie (7-3) told the media afterwards at GrandWest Arena.

But I’m gonna leave it to Graeme [Cartmell] to decide. He’s the matchmaker and that is his job.

Whatever he puts in front of me I will take it with both hands, and we’ll go from there for the belt.

Aside from staying active in the hexagon, Drotschie is on a mission to grow his gym Takedown Martial Arts And Fitness Academy in Retreat, as well as that of Rico Hattingh’s Reps MMA in Belville.

The two camps jointly furnished five fighters on the card at EFC 72 on the weekend, including Drotschie’s younger brother Hermie, who won his professional welterweight debut by submitting Francois Cundari with an armbar.

The future is now to fight, to continue to fight, to get stronger and get my back even better than it was. To get faster you know and take it from there,” Gideon said.

I’m here to fight and I’m here to grow, not just myself but my academy and Rico Hattingh’s academy. And we are gonna grow as a team and we’re going to dominate this EFC,” concluded the 31-year-old.
