Hockey World Cup: Video Highlights – South Africa vs Spain
It was a very difficult day at the office as the South African Women’s Hockey team faced off against the Spanish in their second Pool C match of the 2018 FIH Hockey World Cup.
The ladies did an admirable job in their opener against Germany and hopes were high for the 14th ranked South Africans to get some points off the 11th ranked Spaniards.
It was not to be though, as Spain outclassed the ladies in Green and Gold to record their biggest ever World Cup victory with a 7-1 win.
After the 3-1 loss against Germany, we spoke to Quanita Bobbs in an exclusive interview, where she told us that the team had been working hard on their pressing as well as work in the circle, but a rampant Spanish team were able to slot 7 goals past the South African Hockey ladies, who only managed 1 goal in each of their two games thus far.
After the game, Shelley Russel lamented South Africa’s lack of discipline when it comes to sticking to the game plan, something that proved costly in the 7-1 defeat.
