Monday night saw The Pundits FC at their very best as they secured their second victory on the trot at Fives Futbol Canal Walk. The 2-1 win was hard-fought and it came against the Heroes, who were sitting second on the log, nogal.

Struggling to field a full side due to various absentees, The Pundits FC had to rope in a loan signing to fill the squad. Chairman, @odinKuun, had to search far and wide, and eventually managed to secure the services of Gertjie, who once plied his trade in the Mediterranean island, Malta.

It was a concern that some key players were not available for this massive clash and I had to make a plan to replace them. Most notably, it was @CapeTown_Bru and @Kilopascal_Dj who had better things to do than play Football at 21:20 on a Monday evening. The biggest issue is that these two players are one of the few in the squad who can actually play Football“, said @odinKuun, who once again missed the game due to not really caring about the club or the players anymore.

Nonetheless, it was a defensive masterclass that saw The Pundits FC take all 3 points on the night – central to this very organized display was Gertjie, who’s communication and command of the midfield brought the best out of all the players except @thatWallace, who’s beyond saving.

It was @thatWallace‘s error that lead to The Pundits FC conceding a goal, resulting in some squeaky-bum-time during the last couple of minutes. Despite an onslaught of attacking moves and a wave of shots during the power-play, the team managed to keep the defense tight and showed why they currently have the best defensive record in the league, conceding only 19 goals in 6 matches.

The Pundits FC now sit 5th on the table, but another win could see them jump into 2nd place if other results go their way.

“Next up, we have Rogue Five who are bottom of the table. This means we could mount a strong challenge to finish in the top half of the table this season. Having said that, there’s a very good chance that we’ll bottle it and finish at the bottom”, said @thatWallace.

The club has appealed to fans, and their own Chairman, to come and support next week Monday as they need all the help they can get during this crucial time of the season.
