Revealed: The secret to clean Football boots

the secret to clean sneakers

Most people that know me, will know that I have a bit of a thing for sneakers and shoes. One of those things, is that they should always be as clean and new-looking as possible. With Football boots becoming ever more fashionable, they have become more of a style statement than ever before – if you’re as averagely talented as I am on the Fives Futbol pitch, you need clean Football boots to make you stand out from the crowd.

While I’ve been using SneakerLab products to clean my sneakers for quite some time now, it recently got me thinking: what if I try these on my Football boots?

This started a conversation with the people of SneakerLab and they agreed that we should test this out – which is exactly what I set out to do.

The secret to clean Football boots

Now, to give you some background (those who play at Fives will know what I am talking about) the dirt that comes off a Fives Futbol pitch is not your average gunk that can be wiped off with a wet cloth.

To put it in perspective: I have a football that we use to warm up before matches. This ball quickly got very dirty and started resembling a bludger from a game of Quidditch, rather than the footballs we see on TV.

Naturally, I wanted to get the ball clean again – using household cleaning materials, I scrubbed and wiped and scrubbed again… nothing happened. It was only when I took the ball into a chlorine swimming pool on holiday that the dirt started coming off… this shows you the strength of the dirt we’re working with.

Obviously I did not want to expose my Football boots to chlorine (or most household cleaning materials for that matter), so I decided to give SneakerLab a try… to be honest, I was sceptical.

I decided to try two of their products in my experiment – their Sneaker Cleaner was used on the PUMA boots, while I used the Sneaker Wipes on the Adidas boots.

As can be seen by the pictures below, the results were quite remarkable.

Not only are these products extremely effective in cleaning the boots, they are extremely affordable as well.

I think the results speak for themselves here, but if you’re not convinced, I urge you to try it out for yourself. SneakerLab has their own online store (click here) or you can get their products in-store at Sportscene.

Their products are also environmentally friendly, and can be used on all materials – even suede. Yes, really, I regularly clean my suede Adidas sneakers with them.

If you do decide to give it a go, feel free to share some of the results with us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
